Career Development Center Workshop Leveraging LinkedIn in the PhD Job Search: Network ing, Informational Interviews, and More 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Room 108B You’ve done some exploration and identified some interesting possibili ties as the next step after grad school or your postdoc, but is it enough to convince you that research in industry, medical science liaison, data science, etc. is right for you? More importantly, do you know enough to craft a persuasive story about why you’re a credible and compel ling candidate? This presentation provides specific examples of how you build out your knowledge of a new, potential career field, and forge valuable connections that can facilitate your successful transition out of academia using LinkedIn, professional societies, informational inter views, and more. Undergraduate Poster Award Competition (UPAC) 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Grand Hall Come meet undergraduates and learn about their research projects. Undergraduates presenting as first or second author on a poster par ticipate to improve presentation skills in an encouraging environment, receive feedback, and be recognized for their hard work. The ten students with the best overall presentations will be awarded $100 and will be recognized during the 2024 Biophysical Society Lecture and Awards Ceremony. These students will be selected based on the quality and scientific merit of their research, knowledge of the research problem, contribution to the project, and overall presentation of the poster. Students competing in the competition had to have been registered and confirmed prior to arrival at the meeting. Learn to navigate the meeting! Travel Awardee Reception 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, Exhibit Hall AB During this reception, students, postdocs, and early and mid-career scientists will be honored and presented with their travel awards by the chairs of the Education, Early Careers, Inclusion and Diversity, Member ship, and Professional Opportunities for Women Committees.
