Annual Meeting

First-Time Attendee Drop By Saturday, February 19, 5:00 pm –6:00 pm

organelles are supramolecular assemblies containing RNA and/or proteins with intrinsically disordered regions. LLPS allows the cell to organize complex biochemical processes in space and plays crucial roles in regulating gene expression, the stress response, and some signal transduction pathways. Speakers Rohit Pappu , Washington University, will introduce Biophysical Principles of Phase Separation Alexsandra Zidovska , New York University, will discuss Bio- physical Studies of Phase Separation Gary Karpen , University of California, Berkeley, will present Biological Examples of Phase Separation in Cells Exhibitor Presentations* Exhibitor presentations will be held throughout the Annual Meeting by companies that have exciting products, tools, and technologies to showcase. All meeting attendees are wel- come at these presentations.

First time attending a Biophysical Society (BPS) Annual Meet- ing? Wondering what to do first or how to get the most out of your time? Stop by the First-Time Attendee event on Saturday evening during the Opening Mixer to learn how to navigate the meeting. Committee members along with Society staff will be on hand to answer your questions and help you gain the most from your time at the BPS 2022 Annual Meeting.

NewMember Welcome Coffee Monday, February 21, 10:15 am –11:15 am

Are you a new Society member? Come to this event to meet members of the Society’s Council and BPS Committee mem- ber representatives and learn about Society activities and programs. Get acquainted with other new members and enjoy refreshments. Current members are encouraged to come meet new members. Dinner Meet-Ups Interested in experiencing the local flavors of San Francis- co and making new acquaintances? Meet at 6:00 PM each evening Sunday through Tuesday at the Society Booth, where local students will coordinate dinner at a nearby restaurant. Annual Meeting of the Student Chapters Monday, February 21, 11:00 am –1:00 pm Get to know the BPS Student Chapter community! Attendees will meet Student Chapter representatives and learn how to join a local chapter or start a chapter at their institution. The interactive workshop and poster session aims to establish chapter connections and plan for future Student Chapter events. Biophysics 101: Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation: Biophysical Fundamentals to Cellular Function Monday, February 21, 1:30 pm –3:00 pm This session will provide an introduction to liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), a field that is enjoying an explosion of interest due to its ubiquitous nature. This widespread cellular mechanism leads to formation of membrane-less organelles such as the nucleolus, stress granules, and P-bodies. These
