Biophysical Society Thematic Meeting

Biophysics at the Dawn of Exascale Computers

Hamburg, Germany | May 16–20, 2022

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE Rommie Amaro , University of California, USA Christophe Chipot , CNRS, France Rosana Collepardo , University of Cambridge, United Kingdom

Molecular biophysics over the next decade will be dominated by three technologies—electron microscopy and tomography, X-ray lasers, and machine learning. Taking us a step closer towards capturing biomolecular assemblies in action, these technologies together with molecular simulations are delivering not only static structures, but movies of cellular functions. Fortuitously overlapping with the inception of the exascale era, this meeting will prepare the biophysics community to start advancing the development and implementation of computational algorithms towards the best use of the exascale computing resources. This meeting brings together experimentalists and theoreticians working in the broad areas of protein folding and assembly, dissection of allosteric pathways, macromolecular interactions, and bottom-up structure of cells, wherein large-scale computing is expected to bring forth major discoveries.
