The Biophysical Society has initiated an exempla ry program, the JUST-B Poster Session, to promote diversity, specifically designed for underrepresented and underserved students and postdocs. This poster session provides an out standing opportunity for networking among graduate stu dents, postdocs, faculty, and staff scientists. Do you have advice for others who might be thinking about volunteering? I strongly recommend that others become involved in vol unteering services, especially with the Biophysical Society or other scientific organizations. It is extremely helpful to connect with other scientists in the field. Volunteering helps you to gain new skills, make new friends, and build your confidence. I have learned that a diverse group of people can address issues much better than an individual can. When not volunteering for BPS, what do you work on? Apart from my volunteer work with the Society, I dedicate my time to my research work, teaching commitments, and spending time with my family and friends. Additionally, I re main actively involved in volunteering for other organizations during my free hours. My passion lies in traveling and explor ing new places with my family.

Is this your first volunteer position for BPS? If not, what other positions have you held? Yes, this is my first volunteer service with the Biophysical Society. Why do you volunteer? Volunteering provides an opportunity to share knowledge and experience for the benefit of those in need. Engaging in volunteer work also fosters networking, which plays a vital role in our professional development. Many organizations, like the Biophysical Society, rely on volunteers to achieve their missions, and I believe it’s our responsibility to support the scientific community through volunteer services. In the past, I’ve observed that people sometimes face obstacles in their advancement, not because of their merits but due to factors such as gender, culture, lack of financial resources, and lack of proper guidance. Through volunteer service, we can build connections with fellow volunteers to address these issues, potentially making a significant impact on the lives of others. What has been a highlight from your volunteer experience? Currently, I am serving as a member of the Committee for Inclusion and Diversity of the Biophysical Society.
