Communities

We also invite your insights on potential Subgroup activities, and we look forward to receiving input from Subgroup mem- bers and the larger community about things we can do to improve networking and opportunities among our members. Finally, please be sure to join our Subgroup when you renew your BPS membership this year. We are looking forward to nucleating a global, diverse, and inclusive community of scholars interested in theoretical and computational aspects of biophysics—including interested experimentalists! We need your support and participation for a successful sympo- sium and Subgroup. See you in San Francisco! — Greg Voth , Chair — Rommie Amaro , Chair-Elect — Ed Lyman , Secretary-Treasurer

Theory & Computation We are excited to announce the first symposium of our new BPS Subgroup devoted to Theory & Computation (https:/ www.biophysics.org/subgroups/theory-computation). Many of us have enjoyed the “meeting within a meeting” that Subgroup Saturday provides at the BPS Annual Meeting, but were missing the chance to connect with our more theoreti- cally inclined colleagues in a Subgroup symposium format. At the February 2022 BPS Annual Meeting in San Francisco, the new Theory & Computation Subgroup will sponsor a half-day symposium featuring speakers whose research highlights the breadth of theory and computational research in biophysics, including molecular dynamics and free energy sampling, machine learning, and other multiscale approaches.

When you renew your membership for 2022, select the Subgroup(s) that most closely fit your research focus. • Bioenergetics, Mitochondria, & Metabolism • Bioengineering • Biological Fluorescence • Biopolymers in vivo • Channels, Receptors, & Transporters • Cryo-EM • Intrinsically Disordered Proteins • Macromolecular Machines & Assemblies • Mechanobiology • Membrane Fusion, Fission, & Traffic • Membrane Structure & Function • Membrane Transport • Motility & Cytoskeleton • Multiscale Genome Organization • Nanoscale Approaches to Biology • Physical Cell Biology • Single-Molecule Forces, Manipulation, & Visualization • Theory & Computation
