Symposium Opportunities for Change: Setting Standards to Address Harassment in Science 10:45 am - 12:45 pm, Room 6A Toxic work environments where bullying, harassment and bad behavior are allowed to persist create unsafe environments for staff and students. Unchecked, this can lead to physical and mental health safety issues, underperformance and ultimately contributes to highly talented people leaving the research/science sector, particularly those from historically underrepresented groups. This session will be a forum where leaders from national funding agencies and diversity and inclusion accreditation bodies will discuss their role in driving institutional culture change in creating an inclusive scientific climate. We will hear from representatives from the NIH, the NSF, and gender equity, diversity and inclusion accreditation bodies in Australia (SAGE) and the USA (SEA Change).
